What to expect

This course is aimed at last-year residents and board-certified radiologists interested to learn more about the specific challenges of diagnostic imaging in the Elderly. Facing an ageing society all over the world and new treatment options for elderly patients as well as diseases typically occurring in patients at high age Geriatric Radiology has gained relevance over the last years.

This intense one-day program is designed to provide insights into three fields in Radiology where the diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients have moved into the focus, including Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, as well as Cardiovascular Radiology. The focus of this course will be on the differentiation between processes that could be called as “normal ageing” and abnormal changes. Tools and methods, such as body composition analysis, to estimate unusual ageing processes will be discussed, and typical disorders of the elderly will be introduced.
